I am 42 years old female.Had Posterior vitreous detachment two months back. I am seeing flickering lights when I wake up from sleep.no matter how long I sleep even if i sleep for one hour when I wake up i see flickering lights 4 or five times in my peripheral vision. retina specialist says my retina is safe. Could any body explain these lights associated with waking up. thanks

After a posterior vitreous detachment the vitreous pulls away from the back of the eye. And this causes for the occurrence of flashes of light around six months after the procedure. But you have nothing to worry about because these go away gradually over this period.
