Has anyone heard of (or experienced) having both eyes in an adult undergo muscle surgery at the same time? With general anesthesia? The situation is that both eyes have already had numerous RD surgeries (vit-buckle IOL implant ERM peel). Strabismus was a complication of the second vit-buckle. The surgeon said if too much scar tissue is found on the affected eye the plan would be to immediately operate on the muscles of the other eye. I had awake sedation for my retinal surgeries; never general for anything.

I have read an article that states simultaneous bilateral intraocular surgery to treat jendophthalmitis expulsive hemorrhage or retinal detachment. The surgery is done to correct the alignment of the eye muscles. There are minor complications you will notice after the surgery but go away after four to six weeks. If you major complications are noticed after this given time schedule a follow up check up with your eye doctor.
