Acid Reflux

I have had different sysmptons for months mostly throat burning and mid sternum pain alternating with soreness. I was put on prilosec with no difference then zantac 300 mg and now nexium. The zantac showed improvement. Then went to a gastro and he changed me to 40 mg Nexium with marked improvement. I had an ultrasound hyda scan both normal. I then had an endoscopy that showed stomach was irritated and and a raw spot in my esophagus. It appeared to be healing. I have changed what I eat and how with little difference. I was on 2400 mg ibuprofin for a foot injury for 9 months and lamisil for 2 months when everything started. When it started I stopped those two meds. I also noticed that the Lamisil would scrape all the way down my throat and get stuck exactly where I am raw. It is the only meds that has ever done that.I have never had stomach problems of any kind. I am still having burning in my throat of and on all day. there is no pattern. And I have a sore throat off and on again no reasoning to when. I may have it am or pm or not at all.I may burn once a day am or pm or I may not burn but hurt or I might burn all day long. I was wondering is there a better treatment. I have heard people taking nexium am and zantac pm? I think if I could get the raw spot better I would be fine. I really don't have heartburn except in my throat. My stomach doesn't hurt except at my sternum occastionally. But I am sore a lot.Any help anyone can give me. Is this considered Acid Reflux I am not sure my doctor ever gave me an actually name for it.

Hi Yes your symptoms are that of GERD.If you dont find relief with once daily dose of PPI take twice daily dose.Follow lifestyle changes that your doctor advised. Zantac is taken at bedtime for better relief only if you develop nighttime symptoms that wake you up in spite of taking Nexium. Take sucralfate along with Nexium for faster healing of the raw spot in the esophagus.
