What would be the best OTC medication or other remedies for acid reflux? about every 4 months i get a lump in my throat it lasts about 3-4wks. it dosen't hurt i have no pain in my stomach or heart burn. I drink about a half gallon of water elevated my bed and have tried prevacid tagamet tums alka seltzer and acid reducers. the only relief i get is from drinking water & eating apples. any suggestions?

Personally I think omeprazole (Prilosec OTC) is best. You can buy omeprazole without buying a brand name and save a few dollars. These PPi's have to be taken at least two weeks or longer before your esophagus starts to heal. Sometimes they have to be taken continually. In your case just make sure that the lump is a result of GERD (acid reflux). If you haven't had an endoscope you should. Also make sure you aren't eating and drinking within a few hours of bedtime. An empty stomach at bed time is preferable for GERD.
