My son (11) limps with excessive exercise since about 4had some problems with pneumonia requiring hospitalization twice. He has mild hypotoniamild proximal muscle weaknessexercise intoleranceorthostatic when ill. Most problematic are migraines and behavior meltdowns when tired.Blood work shows decreased coq10normalcarnitineelevated alanine/lysinemildly elevated lactic acid and lowhigh non-specific amino acid profile.Lactic acid and pyruvate have been mildly elevated 3 of 4 times. On microscopythe muscle is nonspecific.Mild fiber-type grouping.Fibroblasts were sent to Baylor.Baylor found a few elevationsC4D3-C4D3-C12D3-C16.D3-C4 was elevated at 19 times normal.Baylor interpretation was that it was not likely to be SCAD b/c previous ACYL blood was normal and was instead likely a primary defect of the Electron Transport Chain. His muscle was sent to Cleveland Rainbow & a severe deficiency in rotenone sensitive NADH cytochrome c reductase was found. The notes state that complex I+III was greatly reduced that "decreased citrate synthase activity suggests either tissue deterioration or a decreased number of mitochondria in the skeletal muscle".His muscle was also sent to Baylor.Findings were "the activities of several respiratory chain complexesparticularly complex I and III activities were modestly reducedbut not enough to satisfy a minor criterion of the modified WC for the diagnosis of a mitochondrial respiratory chain disorder. We cannot confirm or exclude the diagnosis. However it should be noted that the specimen arrived in OCT like material which may interfere with the accurate measurement of enzyme activity."His numbers were 36% at Baylor and 8.8% at ClevelandThe only genetic testing was Baylor's test number 3000-negative for point mutations deletions of the mtDNA.I believe that if he has Mitochondrial Disorderhe is milder than most.Is this common?Would someone there please help us figure out what is going on or give a direction for genetic testing?

Something natural to build up the immune system. Do the pranayam for 10 minutes twice a day. The extra oxygen will be carried by the blood cells and help to make the body systems healthy. Let me know how he feels after 28 days of pranayam but continue the pranayam. The body can do a lot of healing with a little help. Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy stop and resume after one minute. Kapalbhati pranayam -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day. Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day. Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently. Anulom Vilom pranayam – Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril then -keeping the left nostril closed deep breath-in through right nostril then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril. This is one cycle of anulom vilom. Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30 minutes twice a day. Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day. You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.
