5 mo old baby dont want milk

My 5 months old baby refuses to suck milk from the bottle he was bottle feed eversince he was born. i already tried different brands of formula but its getting worse each day.the pedia prescribed heraclene to increase his appetite but is seems ineffective. Sometimes when he is truly hungry he will be willing to eat some milk with cerelac using spoon or by using medicine dropper. Feeding time is becomming traumatic for him. often times he will cry and scream at the top of his voice when its feeding time.. He can only finish maximum of 3.5 oz at one time and consumes average of 5 to 6 bottles a day. From your measurements his weight is just above the 50th percentile for his age which indicates his weight is within normal range. At 5-7 months you can start to feed him baby food - strained meats vegetables fruits infant cereals if he is refusing the infant formula. Suggest following a meal schedule for the solids such as 3 meals a day- breakfast lunch dinner and between you give him the bottle of formula if he takes it. If he continues to decrease the formula intake then try using a Sippy cup (with formula) at meals; plus give him only formula as fluids limit water and no juices to see if that will help too. At 8 months you can introduce finger foods and he can try feeding himself. Relax at meals when you are feeding him and do not force him to eat. Remember meals need to be joyous for you and him. Slowly introduce new foods and if he does not want it do not make a fuss over it. To help increase his protein/calcium needs due to not consuming formula you can substitute 4oz of milk to 1/2 oz of cheese or 1/2 cup of yogurt or 1/4 cup cottage cheese. How this helped you.
