Semen in fresh open cut

Good afternoon Dr. Would you consider semen directly ejaculated on a fresh open wound a high risk. The wound in question is on my index finger it is roughly 2mm long by 2 mm wide and 1mm deep. The end of my finger was dry and a piece of skin caught on something and ripped the skin back. Exposing a lower level of dark blood red flesh. I do not know when the cut happened exactly but a few hours later when I noticed it it was still sensitive to sanitizer. I did not see the wound actively bleeding but the exposed layer of underneath flesh was very dark blood red moist and sensitive. The exposure was mutual masturbation with another male of unknown status. I wiped my hands off after a few minutes but did not get to wash them for several hours. I have read that mutual masturbation carries no risk for HIV unless there are fresh open cuts as in my case. What would you rate my exposure and should I get tested.

Welcome to our Forum. This was a no risk event like all episodes of mutual masturbation. In mutual masturbation scrapes and cuts commonly occur as a result of the manual stimulation and partners typically get each other's genital secretions on one another including their cuts and scrapes. While you can argue about the theoretical risks associated with the events you describe the fact is that no one has ever been documented to acquired HIV in this way and there have been millions of instances of mutual masturbation. In your own case unless there is something that you have not mentioned you do not even know that your partner had HIV and it is statistically unlikely that he did. I would not worry about the event you describe. I see no medical reason for concern or for testing. I hope these comments are helpful to you
