Dear Doctor. I have been exposed to high risk activity (unprotected sex) I have done following tests :- • 29 days combo test and result is nonreactive. • 62 days combo test and result is nonreactive after that I did surgery in my feet finger and took medication (strong pain killers and antibiotics namely: Tramadol hydrochloride cefuroxime axetil celecoxib) • After that 83 days combo test and result is nonreactive. Also I am diabetic person and takes metformin and vitamins (D and B complex). I am till worry if I can resume my unprotected sex with my wife as I have the following concerns and questions :- • I did the test at 83 days instead of 84 days does it differ? And according to your experience and the statistics and information you are exposed to what is the percentage of the people who tests positive after negative result at 83 days. • I feel pinches in my body especially in neck and arm I checked with the doctor (without telling him about my exposure) and he told me that may be from Thyroid and he tested it and it is OK and then he told me that I may have anxiety. • Do you think I am taking risk and bad decision to return back to unprotected sex with my wife? I am thinking so much and over worry and I need to through this subject away from my life and look to my family. So answering the questions above will help me a lot especially the first one as I read stories in the internet for people tested on 2 months and then they test positive after 6 months (I do not know if they make up these stories or they are true stories)??!! best regards.

Welcome back to our Forum. The exposure you describe did not give you HIV- you can be completely sure of this. The combination tests that you have been tested with give definitive answers at any time more than 28 days after and exposure thus you have at least three test results at times when the results are definitive and you can be confident that you were not infected. There is no meaningful difference between test results at 83 and 84 days. None of the medications you mention would change your test results in any way. The reports you have found on the internet are wrong reflecting either old data or misinformation. You have no reason for further concern regarding your exposure over 80 days ago no reason for further testing and no reason to abstain from sex with your regular partner. I hope these comments are helpful. Take care.
