What's going on??

A week ago I had a really strange encounter with an old friend of mine; I ended up fingering her and she ended up giving me oral (unprotected)...If it matters I found out the hard way she just started her period (from fingering but we did NOT have vaginal sex)...her sexual history is vast (8 guys some black [a high risk group I think?])...anyways 2 days ago about 6 days after the encounter I began to feel sick at work and by the night I had a slight temperature w/ night sweats and sore throat. The day before I'd had a small solid red rash coming from my belly button but that had gone by yesterday (my temp was around 98.6 last night but I'm usually around 97.5). My head is still warm this morning (it's climbed to 99ish and I'm not feeling so great) and though I'm going to try to get tested when I can I'm still wondering what my chances are that this is ARS and that I got HIV from this one incident. I'm a straight white male of 18

Welcome to our Forum. The exposure you describe did not put you at risk for HIV. There is no risk from masturbating (fingering) a sex partner nor from receipt of oral sex. The fact that she was having her period likewise has no impact on your situation. In fact in many instances there is more HIV presence in the genital secretions of infected women than in menstrual blood. It was a no risk event. Thus your current symptoms while having some of the characteristics of the ARS (actually they are a bit early -most ARS starts about 2 weeks after exposure and you do not have the HIGH fever or severe muscle and joint aches that are typical of the ARS) they are far far more likely to be coincidence even if you did have a meaningful exposure. My advice is to not worry. There is no need for testing and no reason for concern. I hope this comment is helpful to you.
