Query regarding BP Measurement

Medical History =============== 1) My mother (age: 56+ yrs) was diagnosed with high BP (160/110) in Feb 2014 & therefore on a dosage of tablet Olsar-40 to be taken daily. 2) During 1st 3-months her BP readings were between 135/80 to 120/70. 3) In mid Aug 2014 she got a high BP reading (160/100) & after a couple of days it was 140/90. All these & above readings have been taken in diagnostic centers thru Mercury devices. 4) After that we started using Omron (model: HEM 7113) BP monitor at home & during last 1.5 months her readings are well between 110/65 to 135/85. All these & above readings have been taken on left hand only. My Questions ============ 1) Today morning we got her checked in a reputed diagnostic center where they have taken BP readings on her right hand using Mercury device & it came as 130/90. Does she need any medicine adjustment & is there anything worrisome ? 2) Today afternoon we have again taken her readings thru Omron where it came 120/75 on left arm & 105/65 on the right. Are these readings reliable enough ? 3) Ideally from which hand (left/right) BP readings to be taken ? What about BP readings thru Omron ? 4) She takes BP medicine at 9 PM. Considering that is it recommended to take a BP reading at 9 AM next day for proper evaluation of BP level ? Tags: hypertension

Read more about white coat syndrome it can help why your mom had higher reading when BP was measured outside the house. Seems she has prehypertension like me. Diet and exercise can help if she needs medication please ask your doctor.
