Now THREE more kidney stones since April 24th

On April 10th I posted a long comment about a 4.5 mm stone that I had and it wasn't passing on its own as all the other stones I've had over the years normally would. Had a Cat Scan on April 24th by the VA and somehow that stone was no where to be found and apparently it had passed on it's own. I strained constantly 98% of the time and never caught it though. Then this past Thursday May1st I started having "that pain" again in my right kidney AGAIN at 5AM. By 7PM I couldn't stand the pain anymore and went to the ER. They then did another Cat Scan and now found I had three stones. They said I had a 2.5mm stone in my bladder and a 4mm and a 5 mm stone STUCK in my uereta causing swelling and an infection this time. They gave me morphine for the pain and antibiotics introvenisally a prescription for antibiotics and pain pills and sent me home after the ER doc consulted with a local Urologist. He said I'd need to see a Urologist within two days because of the swelling and infection. Since I'm a VA patient and the VA doesn't move that quick I'm using my Medicare coverage and seeing the local Urologist Monday and he scheduled surgery for this comiong Tuesday. Don't know what kind of procedure he'll do though to get them out yet. My question is WHY? Why a stone that wouldn't pass for 6 weeks and now multiple stones all in the same kidney in such short a time. I have never had anything like this in all the years prior and nothing in my life or lifestyle has changed to any great extent. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I understand your concern regarding this. With your history of kidney stones the risk of recurrent kidney stones is present. Dietary and medical management are often advised to help prevent recurrence. It is best that you check with your attending physician for proper management. Drinking plenty of fluids is highly recommended. Take care and do keep us posted.
