I am a 16-year-old girl and have a kidney stone that is at least 3mm in my right kidney. Today I drank a gallon of water. If I continue to do it will my kidney stone pass? My mom will push for a shockwave to get rid of it if it's still there when I see my urologist next November. I am not sure what type it is. Thank you

It should pass but in saying that let me tell you what the doctor told me regarding my latest kidney stone that was 4.5mm. He told me that 85% of all stones 5mm and smaller do pass on their own eventually but then there's always that 15% that won't pass on their own for whatever reason. I've had many kidney stones and with the exception of the first one that was well over 5mm all of them have passed on their own and all were 5mm or under. Please tell your Mom that that IF you are still having pain and still suffering ffrom this 3mm stone after a few days she needs to get you to your Urologist immediately and that waiting until November is out of the question and possibly could also be harmful to your health..
