Should I go ahead and have root scaling done?

I am booked in for root scaling in 2 weeks. I'm concerned that I'm going to come out with wobbly teeth and ugly receding gums. My dentist was all set to put on braces to straighten the wonky teeth and suggested I keep up my oral hygiene regime and everything would be OK. Then my periodontist said STOP STOP STOP! You must have root planing or you will lose all your teeth to gum disease. My periodontist hasn't taken xrays or seen my previous xrays. I have many 2-5mm pockets with a few 7 and 8's. Over the last 12 months my oral hygiene has vastly improved and my gums no longer bleed at all. Pockets depths are getting better. No loose teeth - although a few have gone slightly crooked. Should I go ahead and have root scaling done? Are there any alternatives?

You have to say that your periodontist hasn't taken x-rays or seen your previous x-rays. I asked you one query as your previous x-rays of dental have any problem? Before any treatment dentist always takes an x-ray & analyzed problem. He/she will measure the depth of your pockets using a tiny probe. Then he/she analyzed a sign that you have gum disease or not.
