Preconception questions

My boyfriend and I have been thinking about getting pregnant. I don't have insurance so I can't go see an OB/GYN until the first of the year when I get insurance. I am going off my birth control at the end of this week and I want to get my cycle regular and I'm not sure how to make sure that my cycle is normal or to keep track. My other question is that I'm also on medication and I don't know what I am able to take and what I'm not able to take. so I'm going to start weaning myself off of my medication since I can't go see an OB/GYN. The medicine I take is Xanax 1 mg twice a day (As needed) Cyclobenzoprene 10 mg once a day Ritalin 20 mg once a day Metroplol 25 mg once a day for low blood pressure This is the first time that I will be trying to get pregnant I am 30 years old and I just want to take the necessary steps that I need to take to get my body ready before trying to get pregnant.

The first necessary step is to have the insurance before you get pregnant. I don't know if it is common any more but it used to be that a health insurance provider would not cover any pre-existing condition including pregnancy. I assume some would still take that approach if you appeared in January and wanted insurance and were pregnant. Given that January is so soon you would be really smart not to stop your birth control until then in other words not risk getting pregnant before being certain you are fully covered. You could go thousands and thousands of dollars into debt over even a relatively uncomplicated pregnancy and delivery if you don't have insurance. Waiting the two months has the added advantage that a doctor would be able to advise you about something as serious as stopping Ritalin. In other words wait until you have coverage and see a doctor. Don't rush it you might make some serious mistakes.
