Cholesterol

Hi Everyone I was advised by my doctor to take Lipanthyl and No Uric for three consecutive months and hereunder is the latest laboratory report with the following results: CHOL : 231 mg/dl (Out of Range) HDL : 50.839 mg/dl LDL : 152 mg/dl TRIG : 140 mg/dl GLU-F : 83 mg/dl I am turning 47 yrs old this month 5’4” in height and weighing 138.891 lbs. I don’t smoke and drink alcohol even soda. I do basic exercise 2-3 times a week. I don’t eat red meat but only chicken and fish. I eat 2 cups of rice once in a week and boiled banana or sweet potato. I drink Anlene milk without sugar before bedtime regularly. I eat vegetables and fruits regularly too. Hardly ever do I take fatty foods. Every morning right after I woke up I drink water with lemon on empty stomach while consuming a lot of mineral water the rest of the day. As part of my diet I usually make my own vegetable salad with thousand island salad dressing and shredded cheddar cheese. Is this healthy or not? Now my question since my cholesterol level of 231 mg/dl is out of range does it mean I am on high risk to have cardiovascular illness or in particular stroke and heart attack? I would appreciate if anyone will care to reply. Thank you.

Level mg/dL Level mmol/L Interpretation < 200 240 > 6.2 High risk The 1987 report of National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panels suggests the total blood cholesterol level should be: 240 mg/dL high cholesterol.[71] The American Heart Association provides a similar set of guidelines for total (fasting) blood cholesterol levels and risk for heart disease:[72] The information can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cholesterol It is a very complex subject and change can't always be achieved by diet alone. However getting your levels down does minimise risks long term. Hope this helps.
