Fatty liver

I had a CT scan recently for possible appendicitis (which was negative) but the CT report noted that I might have fatty liver. My liver panel blood test was all normal. My doctor is not concerned about it at all and has not recommended any kind of follow up. Is this serious? I don't drink much (a few drinks in a month if that) I'm not over weight and I don't have diabetes or high cholesterol.

Hi I understand your concern regarding this and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease or fatty liver is associated with certain factors such as family history diet medications rapid weight loss and even malnutrition. It is good that the results of your blood tests were normal. Although this is not normal it is not serious if it does not lead to inflammation or damage. Regular follow-up and monitoring of the liver is highly recommended. Take care and regards
