I have been on 8 mg of methylprednisolone for 8 weeks as a result of food being cross contaminated at a restaurant with some sort of shellfish. My initial reaction was severely swollen blistered lips the steroids helped but every time I try to get off the drugs my lips swell and blister again. Blood work revealed an elevated IgE of 887 where 40 is normal. I went off the steroids for 12 hours for more fasting blood work and the swelling is so severe I am in agony. My GP is stumped and my immunology dr wants me to do xolair injections which are not FDA approved for facial swelling. Any help would be greatly appreciated from others who have walked this miserable trail.

I have not had these problems but I would sure tend to go along with your doctor's recommendations. You do not want this issue to progress any further.
