workout help

Hi :) I am about a month pregnant weigh 166 and am 5'6"...what kinds of workouts can I do to maintain a weight of 155 lbs. And I haven't quit smoking yet...is this bad?

Hi there thanks so much for posting this question! Yes smoking is so bad! "Women who smoke during pregnancy are more likely than other women to have a miscarriage" http://www.cdc.gov/reproductivehealth/tobaccoUsePregnancy/index.htm In other words try to qui smoking as soon as possible please! Regarding the exercises you can do many of the exercises regarding the guideliness try doing what you were doing before but at a slower intensity. If youwere doing nothing you can start by adding some mild walk or some squats or arms Think of your body in these terms: You may be putting on 20-30 pounds of extra weight and your body needs to get adjusted to new body weight including your joints muscles and brain! so it is really important that you work your core your legs your arms and flexibility exercises. Avoid exercising at a high intensity since it is not that clear that will produce postiive results if you are pregnant. for more information about exercise and pregnancy or if you want me to help you let me know! thanks!
