Hi there and thanks so much for posting this question! Congratulations with your pregnancy! Regarding Yoga it is an extremely beneficial practice if you are pregnant. However remember you should think in these terms: practice activities that you used to do beforte pregnancy. if you were not practicing yoga careful of doing a really intense yoga do it mildly. Check this study http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15865489 CONCLUSIONS: An integrated approach to yoga during pregnancy is safe. It improves birth weight decreases preterm labor and decreases IUGR either in isolation or associated with PIH with no increased complications. However careful with Bikram if you were not practicing Bikram stay away of it and if you were practicing it do it but only to the point where you are not pushing the body to an extreme point of exhaustion. Bikram yoga is a variation of regular yoga where the routine is conducted in a heated room which can be as hot as 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Yoga itself is a fairly safe exercise for pregnant women since the activity is very low impact. There are conflicting views however on whether or not Bikram yoga is safe during pregnancy because of the extreme heat. The problem is raising the core temperature that could affect the birth of the baby. Staying well hydrated is also a vital component of this exercise. My final recommendation please go easy when putting the body into extreme circumstances and if you did it do it but gently if you have any further doubts please consult to your doctor and SAFE PREGNANCY!
