Period Didn't Come on New Birth Control Pill- Please Help!

I am on novo-cyproterone ethinyl estradiol which I only started last month to help with my severe acne. It is a 21 consecutive day pill with a 7 day pill free interval until you start a new pack. I went to my family doctor on the first day of the period (coincidentally) when she prescribed this new birth control. She told me to start the new pack when my period ends. However I went home and read on the sheet inside with the instructions to start your brand new pack on the first day of your period. I thought nothing of it and took my doctors word to start the pack the day my period ends. I have taken all 21 pills and am now finishing the 7 day pill free interval waiting for my next period which hasn't come. It has been 6 days so technically I should start a new pack tomorrow. My boyfriend and I have been extremely careful all month knowing to be careful when starting a new birth control. Could I be pregnant? Should I take a test? Or is my period just late because I messed up how to begin the pack at the beginning of the month? I cannot get a hold of my doctor until Monday and it is Saturday and I am panicking very worried. Thank you for the help in advance! I really appreciate it.

Your doctor was 100% wrong. It's very common knowledge that you start a new pill either on the first day of your period OR the first Sunday after your period starts. I was put on the pill back in 1992 and even way back then people knew those were the correct instructions for starting the pill!! My advice find a new doctor. Anyway I'm not at all surprised that your cycle is messed up since you started it at the end of your period. Menstrual cycles change anyways when you start a new pill the right way so of course it will be affected when you start it the wrong way. That's pretty much a given. But if it were me I wouldn't worry about it and I'd assume that it's going to take a while like several months for the menstrual cycle to get stabilized after starting this new pill. And you should not freak out at any changes in appearance timing or length of your periods while being on the pill because it can and will change it majority of the time. That's all to be expected. I very strongly suggest you find a more competent doctor because heaven forbid you try to see her for a really serious problem she probably would not know what she's doing if she can't even give you proper directions for starting the pill which is like the most basic information to give someone. Geez louise.
