Bc problems 1 minute in the Dermatology Community I started a bc pill on August 8. I have since had a constant brown discharge. I have called the doctors office numerous times to find out why. I always get the same answer... It can take up to three months for you body to adjust to the hormones so this discharge is normal. It is now 4 months! I cannot emotionally handle this anymore. I also have noticed that after sex(which has only been twice in four months) I have red blood for that day. I am at a dead end with my doctors office and figured I would turn to here for advice. Any advice would be helpful

Hi! If you were my patient I would advise you to double up on your pills (take two per day) for 4-5 days. This will stabilize the lining of your uterus so that the bleeding will stop. (The brown discharge is probably very light bleeding). I would recommend a pregnancy test to be certain that that is not the problem. (I recommend a pregnancy test any time there is unusual bleeding). Because the pills now are so low dose sometimes the lining of the uterus become too thin and raw and constant bleeding occurs. The way to fix that is to increase to a "stronger" pill or to take two pills for a few days. IF you want to do this you should discuss it with your doctor because it is going to throw off your prescirption and your will need your new pack sooner than you otherwise would. (Hope that makes sense!) Good luck!
