I have had the mirena iud for a little over a year now and last month i missed my period. I have been feeling really tired lately and a sharp pain on my right side. I got worried so i took a home pregnancy test and it was negative. I haven't had any signs of my period and it just worries me that it could be an ectopic pregnancy since usually that's what happens with the iud. What would be the best thing for me to do? Im avoiding going to my doctor cause i don't have insurance.

Hi! If you were my patient I would advise you that it is common for women to have very little or no period when they have had a Mirena in place for awhile. If your pregnancy test is negative you don't have an ectopic pregnancy--an ectopic pregnancy will cause the test to be positive too. No cause for alarm unless the pain becomes worse. Good luck!
