I got onto birth control about 2 months ago and i haven't missed a day of it. i got onto it because my periods were heavy EXTREMELYYYY painful and very irregular so i figured birth control would help with that. The first month helped out a lot; i lasted 7 days (regular) it was lighter and i barely felt any cramps but this month its like something completely different. Today would be day 8 and i'm still on it the cramps would normally disappear after the third day but i still have them off and on (some more painful than others) and today it seems like it got heavier. This morning i woke up thinking i needed to go to the bathroom by the time i got in there blood had gushed from "there" and was dripping down my leg (there was a clot in the blood but my mom says thats normal) I can't see my doctor until tomorrow but i am kinda freaking out is this a side effect from the birth control or is something wrong?

If you were my patient I would advise you that this does sometimes happen to women who have had irregular periods before starting the pill. Sometimes because of the irregular periods there is a build up of blood and tissue within the uterus which gets discharged when you start the pill. Once the tissue and blood is all expelled your cycles will probably become normal and regular so stick with the pills! Good luck!
