I was required to clean earphones that stick far into your ear. Could this spread deafness or other serious ear problems? I don't wash my hands after doing this

Earphones could be a source of contamination because they will contain earwax and could harbor bacteria or fungus. You should wear gloves and use disinfectant. Wash your hands after handling the earphones.
