Hi there was a loud helicopter passing over my house while i was outside. Luckily I covered my ears with my fingers and pressed hard until the helicopter passed. I was just wondering could my ear still be damaged and would a loud sound cause damage even if it lasts a second Like lets say from the squeak of your shoes? thanks

Hi its not likely that this damaged your ears but you should have a hearing test if you are concerned especially if you have ringing in your ears. Certain very loud sounds can damage your hearing particularly when it occurs over a long period of time. You were right to protect your ears good thinking.
