quality of various hearing aid devices

My mom was recommended to get the Oticon hearing aid as the top of the market product much better than the other brands. And in particular Alta and Intigas 10. What's the quality difference between various brands (i.e. Oticon vs. other brands) and between various sub-brands under Oticon? I also found a site that compares various products not sure how accurate it is and if number of channels matters? http://www.aidright.com/researching_hearing_aids.html thanks!!!

Glad to see that your mother is taking action on her hearing loss. There are many high quality hearing products and Oticon is one of them. The important factors are 1) the skill and expertise of your licensed hearing provider and 2) the quality workmanship and technology of the hearing aids and 3) your mother's individual needs and preferences. The price of the hearing aids will depend on the level of technology and the professional services of your provider. Generally the higher the number of channels the more precise the adjustments and fine tuning the provider can make on the hearing aids. This means that the sound can be more tailored to perception and comfort. Advanced hearing aids may also feature sophisticated benefits such as automatic noise suppression feedback control improved tonality Bluetooth and wireless capabilities and multiple programming levels for customized hearing in various situations. The licensed provider is best suited to assist you in selecting product that meets your mother's hearing condition budget preferences and lifestyle.
