Transvaginal US yearly for fibroids?

I am 69 y/o and have had uterine fibroids for at least 30 years. They remain stable. However my gynecologist orders a transvaginal ultrasound every year. I have no pain bleeding etc. Is this test necessary every year?

Hi! If you were my patient and your I would advise you that I myself would probably be content with a pelvic exam and an ultrasound every 3-5 years. If I felt anything new on exam I would order an ultrasound but if you had no new symptoms and your exam was stable I wouldn't think it was necessary every year. Good luck!
