Positive parvovirus at 27 weeks.

I tested positive parvovirus with positive IGG and IGM at 27 weeks gestation I'm now 29 weeks. What is the normal "protocol" on monitoring baby for problems?

Hi! If you were my patient I would advise you that I'm not sure there is a "normal" protocol for monitoring women with positive parvovirus antibodies. The good news is that the most worriesome time to have parvo during pregnancy is before 20 weeks so you missed that most worriesome window. If you were my patient I would work with a perinatologist to determine how frequently we needed to do antenatal testing and what type of testing to do. I'm assuming that most perinatologists would recommend at least one ultrasound to evaluate the baby for growth well being and the absence of any anomalies. I'm also assuming that different doctors would have differing recomendations on where to go from there. You should probably request that your provider consult with a perinatologist (high risk ob specialist) in your area to develop a protocol for you and your baby. OR if you have already done this and are unsatisfied get you a second opinion. Good luck!
