Hi Dr Elaine I really need some advice very worried. If my aunty was dignosed with high grade hpv on the cervix(moderate dysplasia). My concern is that she has been looking after my 4 month old baby for 6 months and she has been holding her in her lap also bathing her naked genital to genital contact. Also holding her without underwear on. I know my aunty likes to be naked around her home.Is there a risk of my infant catching hpv in her cervix if my infant baby was also naked? They say hpv is caught from skin to skin contact does that mean if their genitals rubbed by accident even if it was her bottom or vagina is this a way to catch hpv of the cervix? They say lesbians can catch hpv so does this mean it is a similar situation. Please need some help very worried mother.

Hi! If you were my patient I would advise you to find a different baby sitter. I would be very worried about more than hpv--but yes I would be concerned about that too although mildly. I presume your infant has some type of diaper protecting her. You situation sounds unusual enough to be of significant concern and I would search for alternative day care arrangements! Good luck!
