I had unprotected sex with someone over 30 days ago. Was actually 5 weeks ago yesterday. I was tested 2 days later for every std including a blood test for herpes and hiv. All were negative. I know you have to wait to get an accurate result so i will go back in a month. Last Friday I started feeling tingly and a little bit of pain in my pelvic area. It stopped on Sunday morning. I went to a walk in clinic on Saturday morning. I have no fever and lymph nodes are not swollen. And the doctor did a physical exam and said nothing looked like herpes. I was fine yesterday. Today I noticed reddish flat small areas on my outside lips. It is not painful when I urinate but I can feel a slight pain in those areas. Could this be herpes?

Hi! If you were my patient I would advise you that you probably DON'T have herpes--or at least that these small flat areas are probably not herpes lesions although you should continue to watch carefully. IF the areas become blisters and then rupture to form little ulcers that is classic for herpes. In most cases the lesions are very painful. Many women experience significant vaginal discharge as well and swollen lymph nodes in the groin are common. Hope this helps!
